The Membership Manager for the Watkins Glen Area Chamber of Commerce is a passionate self-starter responsible for member recruitment and retention for the Chamber of Commerce.
As the Membership Manager, you will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to attract new members, retain existing ones, and promote the benefits of membership.
The position includes program and workshop planning and management designed to promote networking, collaboration, and business to business relations.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a passion for sales, business development, and customer service.
Summary of Duties for Membership Manager:
Membership Recruitment and Retention Responsible for recruitment of new members by identifying individuals, companies or industry sectors and converting prospects into dues-paying members.
Manage membership recruitment campaigns to include coordinating sales efforts and reporting on progress and attainment of sales goals.
Manage retention efforts of members by ensuring opportunities for engagement, cultivating relationships, and communicating membership value on a regular basis.
Manage new member orientation process to include onboarding and engaging member participation in Chamber programming.
Cultivate and support an engaged group of volunteers to expand capacity of the chamber, with particular focus on event management and generation of sponsorships.
Manage all elements of Membership, Business & Education, Ambassador and Events committees as assigned.
Working with Executive Director to identify, implement and evaluate new member benefit programs and partnerships.
Program and Workshop Planning and Management Lead efforts to plan and execute larger, high visibility annual events such as the Annual Gala, Golf Tournament, Awards Program, Business Expo, Job Fairs and Spark Summit(s) on behalf of the Chamber.
Manage budget to include projected income/expense for each event.
Maintain separate budgets for events and programs ensuring that sponsorship and attendance revenue meets budgeted targets for net revenue.
Promote, prospect and close sponsorship opportunities for chamber programming.
Responsible for set-up, coordination, and execution of events.
Work with venues, vendors, and committee members to ensure successful execution of chamber programming.
Delegate appropriate assignment to other team member and volunteers.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities for Membership Manager:
Four-year bachelor's degree in business management or related field or demonstrated level of experience.
A minimum of three years of experience in customer service, event planning, marketing, sales, or membership sales.
Proficient in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint with aptitude to learn new software and systems.
Experience with CRM such as Growth Zone, Simpleview or Hubspot.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Demonstrate initiative, willingness to train, learn and grow personally and professionally.
Must have exceptional attention to detail.
Extensive knowledge and familiarity of Schuyler County (preferred).
Excellent customer service skills and team player.
Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
Ability to adhere to tight time guidelines.
Ability to handle confidential information.
Ability to lift 40 pounds.
Licensed New York State Driver.
Highly organized, independent worker, with an upbeat, and positive attitude.
